Our Farming Practices

At Mayberry, we believe in sustainable, healthy farming from the land. We accomplish this by implementing the practices listed below:

  1. Rotational Grazing

Implementing rotational grazing systems allows pastureland to recover and prevents overgrazing. This will also promote healthy soil, reduce erosion, and ensure our animals have access to fresh, nutrient-rich forage.

  2. Nutrient Management

Properly managing manure as a resource rather than waste helps enrich the soil, reduce chemical fertilizer use, and minimize the risk of water contamination.

  3. Biodiversity

Integrating diverse plant species in pastures and croplands enhances ecosystem health. Various plants provide better livestock nutrition, support beneficial insects, and improve soil structure and fertility.

  4. Animal Welfare

Prioritizing livestock well-being through proper shelter, access to clean water, and regular health check-ups ensures that our animals are healthy and stress-free. Happy, well-cared-for animals tend to have stronger immune systems and better overall productivity.

  5. Local Resources and Inputs

Utilizing local resources, such as feed, bedding, and labor, reduces the farm’s carbon footprint and supports the local economy. Reducing reliance on imported inputs also makes the farm more resilient to external disruptions.
